Hinz&Pay

Hinz&Kunzt

When cash disappears, so does solidarity

The digitalization of payment is posing an existential threat to Hamburg’s street magazine Hinz&Kunzt: fewer and fewer people carry cash.
For the nearly 500 vendors, this doesn’t just mean declining sales and circulation — it primarily means the loss of social interaction.

“Sorry, no cash” becomes an invisible barrier between people who rely on each other.

Campaign

With Hinz&Pay, we're developing the first mobile payment system of the street.
Buyers scan the QR code on the vendor's ID using their smartphone and are redirected to Hinz&Pay via their browser.

There, they select the desired product and a payment method – from PayPal and Google Pay to Apple Pay and credit card.

This way, the excuse "Sorry, no cash" becomes an opportunity to offer even more support.

Scan, buy, support – that’s how simple Hinz&Pay works. And it’s this very simplicity that our campaign communicates.
Together with renowned photographer Sven Jacobsen, we created seven powerful visuals in an authentic street-style aesthetic.
They feature real vendors at their usual locations – proud, dignified, and wearing their QR-code ID as a symbol of digital transformation.

The campaign, realized pro bono by all involved, took over both social media and the streets.
Out-of-home partner Ströer supported the project with digital and traditional ad placements, while PR agency Faktor3 ensured extensive media coverage.

The result: a solution that connects technology with humanity – and prepares Hinz&Kunzt for the future.
